The Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission failed to protect the public and markets, and failed to expand prosperity.
When has new technology introduced to society ever been quickly embraced by corporations? How many years passed before offices assigned Apple laptops to employees?
Yet many corporations encouraged employees to use Machine Learning programs. And people ignorantly discuss “AI” as a thing above mankind when it really is academic and corporate software powered by public infrastructure.
Corporations offer ML products internally and employees provide training data.
Have we reached the moment when a man uses a ML service to draft an e-mail letter, and the recipient uses a ML service to summarize the letter? Are people really replacing reasoning with statistical prediction? White-collar laborers abdicate their responsibility to think.
This manner of work appears thoughtless and anti-social. Cui bono?
Is the juice worth the squeeze? How many billions burn to offer this as an improvement to the daily grind? Smarter minds will tally the score. But we will all live through the crash.
